The company has allocated a $15 million fund that will be granted to both researches that are near completion and ones that are in their early stages, but show potential.

Omeq Medical Receives NIS 2.5M Injection
Israeli biomed startup Omeq Medical, which is developing a sensor-based solution to reduce the pain involved in epidural injection, has received a NIS 2.5 million (approx. $700,000) injection.
The injection was given by Omeq Medical’s parent accelerator Misgav, a part of the TrendLines Group.

RealMatch Raises $7M In Series B Financing Round
Israeli startup RealMatch, which develops software for recruiting employees and sorting through job applicants, has announced the closing of a series B financing round, raising $7 million.
The round was led by American Edison Ventures, which invested $6 million and an additional $1 million was invested by Israeli Carmel Ventures. The company has raised $18 million to date.

Hadassah Ein-Kerem Researcher Receives €1.65 Grant From EU
The European Union has granted an Israeli researcher €1.65 million to continue her study into non-radioactive detection method of cancer and other conditions. Doctor Rahel Katz-Brill of Hadassah Ein-Kerem Medical Center in Jerusalem is the recipient of said grant and will use the grant to conduct pre-clinical trials of the substance.

SaaS Marketplace Chekkt Raises $1.25M In Seed Financing
Israeli startup Chekkt, which develops a marketplace for SaaS products, has announced the closing of a successful financing round, raising $1.25 million. Geektime reports that The round was led by a San Diego based VC firm called Israel Tech Trust, who invested about $1M in the company. The rest of the amount came from Pikadon Tech, Laurent queen’s Wingate Ventures, Nicholas Pariente’s Broadway Partners, ValueShine Ventures private Israeli investor Emilio Maimon.

Israeli 2nd Most Innovative Country In The World
International consultancy firm KPMG has ranked Israel as the second most innovative country in the world on its yearly Global Technology Innovation survey. India was ranked first, while The US and China were rated below Israel.

Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich Is considering investing $20 million in Israeli incubator TheTime. Globes reports that TheTime backer Ilan Shiloach says that Amramovich will invest $20 million in 20 companies.

Israeli medical company Given Imaging, which developed PillCam, a pill mounted with a camera to replace colonoscopy, has won medical approval in Japan. Japan’s Pharmaceuticals & Medical Devices Agency (PMDA) has approved the pill for use when colonoscopy cannot be conducted, including situations in which the patient is unwilling to undergo the procedure.

Enigma Acquired By PTC For $10M
American company PTC has announced that it has acquired Israeli company Enigma. Though the amount paid was not disclosed, it is estimated to be around $10 million, less than what has been invested in the company to date. Enigma develops a product suite that improves the efficiency, consistency and profitability of maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) operations and aftermarket sales and service organizations.

Omek Interactive Acquired By Intel For $60M
Israeli company Omek Interactive, which develops motion recognition technology, has been acquired by international chip developer Intel. The price tag for the acquisition is $60 million. Geektime reports that Intel has been in hot pursuit of Omek for months and that price agreed on will quadruple the investments made in the company.

Apple In Talks To Acquire PrimeSense For $280M
International electronics giant Apple is in acquisition talks with Israeli gesture recognition company PrimSense. Calcalist reports that the negotiations started after an approach was made by Apple to purchase some of PrimeSense’s products, which later matured into acquisition talks.
PrimeSense is best known for being the brain behind Microsoft’s Kinect. It was reported that Sony also made a bid to acquire the Israeli company. Apple’s offer is estimated at $280 million.

Cancer Vaccine Developer Vaxil Receives $3M Investment
Israeli company Vaxil Biotherapeutics, which is developing vaccines for cancer and tuberculosis, has received a $3 million investment. The investment was made by Yorkville Advisors, which will transfer the funds over the next five years.
Vaxil was founded in late 2006 and is headquartered at the Weizmann Science Park.

Insulin Tablet Developer Oramed Raises $4.6M
Israeli pharmaceutical company Oramed Pharmaceuticals, which develops a pill for oral delivery of insulin for diabetics, has raised $4.6 million in a private placement. Oramed is developing a revolutionary tablet, which can be taken orally, and will save diabetics the hassle of injecting themselves with insulin. The funds raised will be directed towards further clinical trials of the pill.
