October 1, 2015 | The popular co-working space for startups WeWork will reportedly open its third Tel Aviv office in November. In addition, the company will reportedly open similar co-working spaces in the southern Israeli city of Beersheva, as well as in Jerusalem. Recently, WeWork’s Israeli founder Adam Neumann was ranked on “Fortune’s” list of the Top 40 business people under 40. WeWork was founded in 2010 by Neumann and Miguel McKelvey.

Third Rock, Access And Clal Invest In Cancer Therapy
October 1, 2015 | The American venture capital firm Third Rock Ventures, Len Blavatnik’s Access Industries and a daughter company of Clal Biotechnology will invest $55 million in Neon Therapeutics. The investment will reportedly be used to help Neon Therapeutics complete its cancer immunotherapy. Clal Biotechnoloigy was founded in 1998 and is based out of Ramat Gan, Israel.

MediWound Receives $112M BARDA Contract
October 1, 2015 | The wound and burn care solutions provider MediWound has been awarded a $112 million contract by the US Biomedical Advanced Research & Development Authority (BARDA). As part of the deal, which extends over a five year period, MediWound’s NexoBrid, a bandage that removes dead tissue cells from medium to severe burn wounds, will be applied by American authorities in emergency situations. The deal also includes a $24 million push from BARDA to receive expedited Food & Drug Administration approval for NexoBrid’s use in the US. MediWound was founded in 2001 and is based out of Yavne, Israel.

Silicom To Acquire ADI Engineering For $10M
October 1, 2015 | The Israeli company Silicom will acquire the US company ADI Engineering. The agreement stipulates that Silicom will pay ADI Engineering’s shareholders $10 million in cash at closing, with additional funds conditional on future performance milestones. Silicom is a data infrastructure and networking services provider and ADI Engineering is a provider of high-performance Intel-based products. Silicom was founded in 1987 and is headquartered in Kfar Saba, Israel.

Teridion Raises $15M In Series B Funding
October 1, 2015 | The cloud networking startup Teridion announced that it has raised $15 million as part of a Series B funding round led by Jerusalem Venture Partners (JVP), Magma Venture Partners and Singtel Innov8. In addition, the fast Internet startup announced the unveiling of its Global Cloud Network. Teridion is headquartered in San Francisco with its research and development arm located in Petah Tikvah, Israel. Teridion was founded by Doron Samelson and Elad Rave.

Farmigo Raises $16M In Series B Funding
October 1, 2015 | The Israeli startup based out of the United States, Farmigo announced that it raised $16 million in Series B funding. The funding round was led by Formation 8 together with existing investors Benchmark Capital and Sherbrooke Capital. The Series B funding bring total funding in Farmigo’s produce network to $26 million. Farmigo was founded in 2009 by CEO Benzi Ronen and Yossi Pik.

Weissbeerger Raises $4M
October 1, 2015 | The Israeli beverage analytics startup Weissbeerger announced that it raised $4 million from ICV, Innovation Endeavors and angel investor Gigi Levy. Weissbeerger’s product called “Beverage Analytic” provides real time consumption data to bars and breweries using a special chip attached to beer taps. Weissbeerger was founded by Ori Fingerer and Omer Agiv in 2010.

Report: JVP To Raise Opportunity Fund
September 30, 2015 | According to reports, Jerusalem Venture Partners (JVP) hopes to raise a $80 million opportunity fund. The fund called “JVP Opportunity VII”. JVP will invest the funds raised by its partners in its existing portfolio companies and well as new companies in need of opportunity funds. JVP was founded in 1993 by Erel Margalit and currently manages about $1.12 billion in funds.

Exabeam Raises $25M In Series B Funding
September 30, 2015 | The user behavior analytics company based in California, Exabeam announced that it raised $25 million in Series B funding. The round was led by Icon Ventures, along with existing investors Aspect Ventures, Investor Shlomo Kramer and Norwest Venture Partners. The investment, which brings total investment in the company to $35 million, will be used to accelerate company growth and to update the company’s analytics solutions. Exabeam was founded in 2013 by Nir Polak, Domingo Mihovilovic and Sylvain Gil.

GE Establishes Israel Accelerator
September 30, 2015 | The US company General Electric (GE) announced that it will establish an accelerator in Israel. Focusing on the sectors of cloud computing and big data, the accelerator hopes to appeal to industrial Internet and software companies. As part of its first round, the accelerator is looking for four Israeli companies that will join the accelerator this coming July. GE is currently active in Israel through its venture capital arm, GE Ventures, and has invested in or acquired a number of Israeli companies over the years.

Mellanox Acquires EZchip For $811M
September 30, 2015 | The Israeli Infiniband developer Mellanox Technologies will acquire EZchip Semiconductor, another Israeli company. Mellanox will acquire EZchip for up to $811 million. Both Mellanox and EZchip are based out of Yoqneam in the north of Israel. EZchip was founded in 1999 and has a US office in San Jose, California.

Base Raises $30M
September 30, 2015 | The customer relationship management service provider Base announced that the company raised $30 million in a funding round led by Tenaya Capital. Index Ventures and existing investors also participated in the round. The current investment brings total funding in the company to $53 million. Base was founded in 2009 by Uzi Shmilovici, Bart Kiszala, Pawel Niznik and Ela Madej.

flux Named Finalist For Verizon’s Powerful Answers Award
September 29, 2015 | flux, an Israeli company creating Internet of Things hydroponic technology for home use, was chosen by Verizon Wireless as a finalist to win the Powerful Answers Award. The Powerful Answers Award is a global startup competition that seeks out mobile solutions that aim to make the world a better place. flux is one of 12 companies chosen in the Internet of Things/ Smart Agriculture category and has the opportunity to win up to $1 million in prizes if it is selected as a winner. flux also announced that it will begin to roll out its first product line and that it will partner with leading American hydroponic companies Cropking and AGROWN. flux is based out of New York City and is headed by co-founder and CEO Karin Kloosterman.

Two Israeli Universities Make World’s Top 100 Innovative List
September 29, 2015 | Thomson Reuters’ ranking of the World’s Top 100 Innovative Universities found two Israeli universities made the cut. Tel Aviv University was ranked 75th on the list and the Technion Israel Institute of Technology in Haifa was ranked 76th. Reuters’ rankings used 10 different parameters to determine which global universities are the most innovative, naming Stanford University in California the most innovative. The ranking looked at research, research quality, patent applications and interest in protecting or commercializing discoveries made at the university.

Adam Neumann Named In Fortune’s Top ’40 Under 40′
September 29, 2015 | Israeli Adam Neumann was named on Fortune Magazine’s list of “40 Under 40,” which names the most influential individuals under 40 in the business world. Neumann, who was born in Israel but currently resides in the United States, is the co-founder of the popular co-working space company WeWork that is currently valued at $10 billion. WeWork has 54 locations in the US, Israel and Europe and over 30,000 members around the world. WeWork was founded in 2010 by Neumann and Miguel McKelvey.
