October 19, 2015 | German dialysis company Fresenius Medical Care has acquired the Nephromor chain of community dialysis centers, owned by Israeli pharmaceutical giant Teva and Israeli healthcare service provider Clalit, Globes reports. The sale price is estimated to be between $70 and $90 million. Founded in 1994, Nephromor provides dialysis services – a life-support treatment that supports the functioning of impaired kidneys.

Report: Telit Wins $220M Contract From UK Governemnt
October 19, 2015 | Internet of Things provider, Telit Communications, has won a $220 million contract to provide services in the UK, The Marker reports. The Israeli company, which enables machine-to-machine (M2M) communications with wireless module technology, will install smart meters in British homes and businesses under an initiative of the British Department of Energy. Founded in 1986 by CEO Oozi Cats, Telit is now traded on the AIM Exchange in London.

October 18, 2015 | Aquanos, the Israeli water-tech company spearheading energy efficient wastewater purification, won the Cleanvest Cup award for best innovative company at the 2015 Watec Israel conference. The event, which took place from October 13-15, 2015 in Tel Aviv, brought together technology companies in the water technology and environmental control sectors. The grand prize is a sponsored trip to Beijing, China in January, 2016 to help Aquanos continue to grow and expand in the Asian market.

Rambam Medical Uses Valtech Valve For First Time
October 18, 2015 | A team of cardiologists at Rambam Health Care Campus in Haifa have become the first in Israel to use a new, Israeli-developed technology to repair mitral valve regurgitation. Because the device is implanted via a minimally invasive procedure, patients no longer need to undergo protracted and complex open-heart surgery. The Cardioband technology, developed by Valtech Cardio and approved for commercial use in Europe, was purchased by the American company HeartWare earlier this year.

BrainStorm Granted Patent For Stem Cell Treatment
BrainStorm Cell Therapeutics, an Israeli developer of adult stem cell technologies for neurodegenerative diseases, has been granted a patent by the Israeli Patent Office for the company’s NurOwn Technology Platform. Founded in 2004 and now led by Chaim Lebovits, BrainStorm is developing treatments for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease), Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and Parkinson’s Disease (PD).

Yuanda Invests $180M In AutoAgronom
October 18, 2015 | Chinese company Yuanda has invested $180 million in Israeli agricultural technology startup AutoAgronom. With the latest investment, AutoAgronom will setup a factory in China to manufacture its autonomous irrigation systems and distribute them throughout China. Last year, Yuanda purchased 54 percent of the Israeli company, which was founded in Israel in 1988 and has since relocated to Boston.

Intel Israel Appoints New Head of R&D
October 15, 2015 | Ran Senderovitz has been appointed head of Intel’s R&D division in Israel. He replaces Gadi Singer, who held the position for four years. Singer will continue in his role as vice president of Intel Group. Senderovitz joined Intel in 2010, when Intel acquired the business unit of Texas Instruments. Intel operates four R&D centers in Israel, the largest of which is based in Haifa.
