International computing giant IBM has announced its biggest Israeli acquisition yet. IBM is acquiring Israeli company Trusteer, which develops security software. According to estimates the deal is worth $800 million, which will be paid in cash.
IBM will keep Trusteer, which has $100 million yearly revenue cycle, as a security lab division in its corporation.

Israeli startup Fashioholic, which develops brand-based fashion games, has raised $1 million in seed financing. The company develops casual games that involve known fashion brands, thus creating engagement between the user and the brand. The company has also announced the launch of its latest game, Fashion Eye.
Israeli company Cyvera, which develops cyber defense solutions, has raised $11 million in a financing round. The round was led by Battery Ventures and private investors. The company says that the funds will be directed towards expanding the company’s business in the US and further develop its products.
The Boston Globe, one of the most influential newspapers in the US has ranked the best places in the world for opening a startup. Topping the list is the Silicon Valley in California and Tel Aviv is right after it. The Israeli city beat out other prime locations such as LA (3rd), New York (5th) and London (7th).
Israeli company Zazoo, which developed a web app for enriching media content, has completed a successful series A financing round, raising $2 million. The funds were invested by several angel and private investors. The company’s product is a browser add-on that recognizes whenever the user is consuming media and offers relevant information about it.
Israeli company Infinity AR, which develops software platforms for wearable computers, has announced that it has invested in META, a company which develops wearable computers. While the amount invested was not disclosed, the cooperation between the companies is aimed at creating a wearable computer system, similar to Google Glass.
Israeli startup Opthocare, which developed Lazy-Eye treatment glasses Amblys, has raised $1.75 million. Calcalist reports that the investment was made by prominent Israeli serial inventor and medical device innovator Yossi Gross and Israeli couple Shmuel and Ronit Levinger, who own a chain of optometry stores.
Israeli researcher Doctor Haim Permuter from Ben Gurion University’s Electrical & Computer Engineering Department has won a prestigious “young researcher grant” from the European Research Council (ERC).
The €1.2 million five-year grant will be directed towards Permuter’s study into directional information.

Israeli company MinInvasive Orthopedic Solutions, which is developing a minimally invasive device for rotator cuff repair in the shoulder, has raised several million dollars in a financing round led by Access Medical Ventures. Globes reports that the device has obtained marketing approval, and is undergoing post-approval clinical trials.
Israeli company Given Imaging, which develops pills mounted with cameras to replace endoscopies, has announced that it has won the US Food and Drug Administration’s clearance for its next generation PillCam.
The new PillCam, SB 3, detects and monitors small bowel abnormalities associated with Crohn’s disease, obscure gastrointestinal (GI) bleeding and iron deficiency anemia.

Israeli company GetTaxi, which developed a taxi-hailing mobile app, has raised $12 million. The financing round was led by Kreos Capital. GetTaxi, which is already operating in 20 cities around the world, will use the funds to expand to one of the world’s busiest cities – New York. GetTaxi has raised $42 million to date.
Israeli biotechnology company Pluristem, which develops various treatments from human placentas, has received approval for a NIS 12 million (approx. $3.3 million) grant from the Office of the Chief Scientist (OCS) within the Israeli Ministry of Economy. Once received, the grant will be used to cover R&D expenses for the period January 2013 to December 2013.
Israeli startup company Sentinal Labs, which develops cyber-security solutions, has concluded a successful seed financing round, raising $2.5 million. The round was led by Data Collective with participation from Accel Partners, Granite Hill Capital Partners and other Angel investors.
eASIC, an Israeli-American Semiconductor company, has raised $23 million in a financing round. The round was led by Seagate. The company has raised $119 million to date.
AOL today announced the acquisition of video advertising platform Adap.tv for $405 million, including $322 million in cash and $83 million in AOL shares. Adap.tv will operate independently as part of AOL’s video organization and it will be part of the overall solution offered by AOL Networks to its publisher and advertiser partners.
Tim Armstrong, AOL’s CEO, said the acquisition will help the company improve its ability to integrate advertising with video content. He called it “the most important growth segment in our industry.”
