‘Peace University’ To Open In Nazareth By Texas A&M University
October 24, 2013 | The Israeli Ministry of Education has announced that a new university will be open in the city of Nazareth. The campus, dubbed “Peace University,” will be a part of US University Texas A&M, which will finance most of the project. The new university has already been approved by the Israeli Council for Higher Education.

EU Satellite Program Will Include Israel As A Major Partner
Israeli Science and Technology Minister Yaakov Peri and the head of the Israel Space Agency, Menachem Kidron have signed an agreement with the European Union, to make Israel a major partner at the Galileo satellite program. Israeli content recommendation platform Outbrain, which is planning an IPO at a company value of $1 billion, has closed yet another financing round, raising an additional $35 million. The financing round, which brings the company’s total to $99 million raised, was led by HarbourVest, with the participation of Carmel Ventures, Index Ventures, Gemini Israel Ventures, GlenRock Israel, Rhodium, Lightspeed Venture Partners, and Vintage Partners.

Although the company said that the price range for the offering and the number of shares had not yet been determined, earlier this year “Globes” reported that it plans to raise $100-150 million at a company value of $500 million.

October 20, 2013 | Doctors Israel Sekler, Ilya A. Fleidervish and Michal Hershfinkel of Ben Gurion University’s Department of Physiology and Cell Biology are winners have been awarded a lucrative grant of $2 million to study “The Interplay of Mitochondrial and Nuclear Ca2+ signaling and its Implication for Memory and Brain Disorders” by the DIP – German-Israeli Project-Cooperation. The grant will be shared with Doctors Hilmar Bading of the Department of Neurobiology, University of Heidelberg and Michael Bader MDC, Charité.

October 20, 2013 | Israeli company Mintigo, which offers business intelligence services, has announced the closing of a financing round, raising $10 million. The financing round was led by Adam Street Partners, with participation from existing investors Sequoia Capital and Giza Venture Capital. Mintigo has developed a platform which automatically matches business offers with potential customers.
