ReWalk Named Among TIME’s 25 Best Inventions Of The Year
Israeli-developed exoskeleton ReWalk, which enables paraplegics to walk, was listed on TIME magazine’s “25 Best Inventions of the Year 2013.” ReWalk is a device that uses advance sensors and robotics to help people who are wheelchair-bound walk again and even climb stairs. It is commercially available in Europe and is currently being reviewed by the FDA.

SimpliVity Raises $58M In Series C Financing
Israeli company SimpliVity, which develops IT infrastructure platforms, has announced the closing of a Series C financing round, raising $58 million. The round was co-ld by Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers Growth and DFJ Growth, with participation from existing investors. The company has raised $101 million to date.

Zula Raises Up To $250,000 In Additional Seed Funding
November 19, 2013 | Israeli startup Zula, which develops a platform for cloud-based conference calls, has announced that it has raised additional funds in a second seed financing round. The funds were raised from Microsoft Ventures. Though the sum raised was not disclosed, Microsoft Ventures usually invests up to $250,000.

N-Trig Raises $4.5M
November 19, 2013 | Israeli startup N-Trig, which develops touchscreen technology, has completed a financing round, raising $4.5 million. The funds were invested by 12 different investors. The company has raised $99 million to date.

EMC To Open R&D Center In Haifa
November 19, 2013 | International IT giant EMC will set up a seventh R&D center in Israel, which will open in the city of Haifa next year. EMC‘s Chairman and CEO Joe Tucci met with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu yesterday and told him of the new center. Tucci also agreed to join the cyber initiative, led by the Israeli government, the municipality of Be’er Sheva and Ben Gurion University of the Negev.

TaKaDu Wins Tender A Four Year In Spain Spain
November 18, 2013 | Israeli company TaKaDu, which develops systems for monitoring and optimizing water infrastructures, has announced the winning of an extension tender with Spanish water utility, Udal Sareak. The utility provides water supply services to a number of municipalities in Bilbao and the Basque Country. In October 2012, it rolled out TaKaDu’s solution. Following a one-year contract which proved TaKaDu’s value, the utility management has decided to continue using TaKaDu’s solution for the long-term.

Compass-EOS Raises $42M, Sets All-Time Israeli Total Financing Record
November 18, 2013 | Israeli startup Compass-EOS, which develops wireless routers, has raised an additional $42 million in funding. Existing investors Pitango, Comcast Ventures, Cisco, Northbridge Venture, Benchmark Capital Partners and Marker LLC participated in the round, alongside a US-based private investment fund, a private investor and the Russian Government’s RUSNANO. This latest round brings the total of capital raised by Compass-EOS to $160 million, a record for total funds raised by an Israeli startup.

Apple Buys Israeli Company PrimeSense For $345M
Apple has reportedly acquired PrimeSense, the motion-tracking company responsible for the technology in the original Xbox 360 Kinect, in a deal said to be worth around $345m. Rumors of the possible purchase, first reported on Sunday morning by Israeli news site Calcalist, began back in mid-July, although the price tag was then said to be some $60M less than the amount currently reported. The exit is a coup for the company who seemed to be headed straight for the wall only a year and a half ago. At the time, the Israeli startup’s sponsor Microsoft announced that it would not be renewing its contract with PrimeSense.
