The amount, and the raising of money for a new fund, was not confirmed by Canaan Partners. Canaan Partners was founded in 1987 by Eric Young and Harry T. Rein. Izhar Shay is Canaan’s General Partner in Israel.

VATBox Raises $24M
August 10, 2015 | The VAT recovery and governance solutions provider VATBox announced that it closed $24 million in new funding. The funding round was led by Viola Private Equity together with existing private investors. The funding will be used by the company to help it grow and expand into the market of VAT recovery and governance. VATBox was founded in 2013 by CEO Isaac Saft and President Noam Guzman.

WeWork Hosts Hackathon For High Schoolers
August 10, 2015 | The co-working space for startups, WeWork hosted a hackathon in Tel Aviv in which 100 high school students competed in a 30-hour race to the greatest invention. The hackathon, ‘Hack the Web’, was held at WeWork’s offices in Tel Aviv and was sponsored by Wix, THM and RapidAPI. The students, some of whom are in middle school, competed to create anything they can imagine using their coding, design and entrepreneurial skills. WeWork was founded in 2010 by Adam Neumann and Miguel McKelvey.

Cronus Raises $2.2M
August 10, 2015 | The Israeli cyber security startup Cronus Cyber Technology announced that it raised $2.2 million. The round was led by JANVEST Capital Partners as well as other investors, including funding from the Office of the Chief Scientist. In addition, the former Air Force chief Eitan Ben Eliyahu was named chairman of the board. Cronus was founded in 2014 by CEO Doron Sivan and Matan Azugi.

Softbank To Cooperate With Israeli Startups
August 10, 2015 | The Japanese telecommunications company Softbank is considering cooperation with Israeli startups, according to a “Globes” report. Softbank recently launched its first innovation program seeking out relevant startups who’s products could be integrated into Softbank’s services. The innovation program is opened to startups around the world, with a particular focus on Israel. In early September, Softbank will reportedly hold a launching event for the program in Israel. Softbank was founded in 1981 by CEO Masayoshi Son.

Bezeq Launches Internet Of Things Incubator
August 10, 2015 | The company will run the three-month incubator program together with Chinese company Hisense for startups in the small device and IoT sector. Bezeq hopes that the incubator will help it identify technologies that can give it an edge in the IoT industry. Bezeq was founded in 1984 and today is headed by CEO Stella Handler.

XACT Robotics Raises $5M
August 10, 2015 | The Israeli robotics startup XACT Robotics announced that it raised $5 million in funding. The funding round was led by MEDX Ventures Group as well as private investors. XACT Robotics develops robotic technology for use in minimally invasive procedures. XACT’s technology was first applied for biopsy procedures in the lungs. XACT’s technology is part of the Technion Israel Institute of Technology’s technology transfer company.

Report: InLoop Raises $2.1M
August 9, 2015 | InLoop, the B2B engagement platform, has raised $2.1 million from private investors, according to a “Geektime” report. Previously known as ExpoBee, InLoop hopes to use the funds to expand its platforms that it has developed for the American market. InLoop is based in Israel and in Alexandria, Virginia.

Two Israelis Make ‘Forbes’ 100 Richest In Tech
August 9, 2015 | Two Israelis made “Forbes” annual ranking of the 100 richest people in technology. Israeli gambling software giant Teddy Sagi was ranked 51st on the list, with a net-worth of $3.7 billion. Lower down the list, Israeli Gil Shwed was ranked 95th with a net-worth of $2.2 billion. Shwed is the co-founder of Check Point Software Technologies.

Liat Aaronson Joins Marker LLC
August 9, 2015 | The former manager of the Zell Entrepreneurship Program at the Interdisciplinary Center in Herzliya, Liat Aaronson has left her position to become a partner and investor at the Marker Venture Capital firm. Aaronson will remain the chairperson of the Zell Program and will continue to devote one day a week to engaging in the program. Hanan Lavie To Head Microsoft’s Accelerator In Seattle

Enlight Renewable Energy Wins Contract In Ireland
August 9, 2015 | Enlight Renewable Energy won a $26 million renewable energy project in Ireland. NIS 14.5 million ($3.8 million) will be paid upfront to Enlight, with the remainder to be invested in the construction of the project. It is expected that the project will generate up to NIS 13 million (approx. $3.42 million) over a period of 25 years. Enlight was founded in 2008 and is headquartered in Israel.

LifeBond Raises $27M In Series D Funding
August 6, 2015 | The Israeli tissue repair company LifeBond announced that it raised $27 million in Series D funding. LifeBond, which has raised $60 million in funding to date, was founded in 2007 by Ishay Attar and Orahn Preiss-Bloom. The company is based in Caesaria, Israel.

Report: Safe-T To Issue $13M TASE IPO
August 5, 2015 | According to a “Calcalist” report, the Israeli information security company Safe-T is set to issue an IPO on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange. Safe-T reportedly hopes to raise NIS 50 million (approx. $13 million) at a company value of NIS 200 million ($52.3 million). If the IPO goes through, it could mean the beginning of Israeli technology companies issuing offerings on their home stock exchange, rather than the ever-growing trend of issuing on NASDAQ. Safe-T was founded in 2007 by Amir Mizhar.

Report: Yahoo! And Kibo Sign Cooperation Agreement
August 5, 2015 | According to a “Globes” report, Noam Lanir’s company Apply Advanced Mobile Technologies will cooperate with Yahoo!. Lanir’s company Kibo will partner with Yahoo! to incorporate Yahoo’s search engine on Kibo’s keyboards. Yahoo! and Kibo will share the profits from the revenue that is generated on the platform from Yahoo’s content and search tools. Kibo, which was founded by Babylon founder Noam Lanir, is a branded keyboard service that works with major brands like Real Madrid, Hello Kitty and others and is used in over 100 countries.
