Less than a year after raising $1.5 million, Insightera has raised an additional $5 million in a financing round led by Lightspeed Venture Partners and Opus Capital. Insightera is a SaaS company, offering B2B software, which analyses customers’ behavior in real time.

CES Exhibition To Be Held In Tel Aviv In October
The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) has announced that 2013 will be the first year in which the CES exhibition will be held in Israel. The exhibition, considered the world’s largest, will be dubbed CES Unveiled TEL AVIV and will be held on October 7th.

Invi Raises $3M From Ashton Kutcher And Li Ka-Shing
Israeli startup invi, which developed a rich media texting app, has announced the closing of a $3 million financing round. Investors include Li Ka-shing’s Horizons Ventures and Ashton Kutcher and Guy Oseary’s A-Grade Investments. The company says it will use the funds to further develop its Android app and expand it to other platforms, such as iOS and Windows.

StoreDot Raising $6M On Series A Financing Round
Israeli startup StoreDot Ltd., which develops nanotechnology based on biological funciotns for various applications, is in the process of raising $6 million. Investors include Genesis Angels, Stef Wertheimer and Nation-E.

Mellanox To Receive $200M From Google And Microsoft
Israeli InfiniBand developer Mellanox Technologies Ltd. will reportedly sell its equipment to two Internet server farm projects by Microsoft and Google. Globes reports that Mellanox’s estimated revenue from the two projects is $150-200 million, which it will begin to recognize from the second quarter of 2013.

Alvarion Raises $1.2M From Clal Finance
Israeli company Alvarion Ltd., a global provider of optimized wireless broadband solutions, has announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement with Clal Finance Underwriting Ltd. to invest $1.2 million in the Company.

IDC Elevator Raises $10M From Chinese Investors
Israeli accelerator program IDC Elevator, founded by Uri Glazer and Tom Bronfeld, has completed a successful funding round, raising $10 million. TheMarker reports that the sum was raised from private Chinese investors and financial institutions in China.
The new fund will be directed towards $250,000 seed investments in 20 companies over the course of a year.

Applango Raises $1M For Its SaaS Management Platform
Israeli startup Applango, which offers Software as a Service (SaaS) management solutions, has raised $1 million. The company will use the funds to further develop its platform, which enables organizations to automatically monitor and optimize their SaaS licenses.
The company is part of the Microsoft Azure accelerator program.

Israeli Student Awarded Google Scholarship For Students With Disabilities
Ahmad Ziad Abasi, a third year visually impaired student in Technion’s Faculty of Electrical Engineering, was awarded the 2013 Google Scholarship for Students with Disabilities. Next week, he will receive the special award, in the amount of €7,000, at the Google Office in Zurich along with 16 other recipients from all across Europe.
The recipients of this scholarship were chosen from amongst dozens of candidates, for their demonstrated excellence in computer science and their ability to lead technological processes. Abasi is the only Israeli student receiving this award, this year.

New VC Aleph To Raise $100M For Its First Fund
Aleph, a new Israeli VC set up by former Benchmark Capital partner Michael Eisenberg and former Genesis Partners partner Eden Shochat, is starting to raise its first fund. Aleph’s fund will total at $100 million and will be directed towards investments in internet and mobile ventures.

Trendlines To Set Up NIS 300M VC Fund
Israeli accelerator group Trendlines has announced that it is starting to raise money for a new VC fund, aimed for investment in medical devices and cleantech. The Trendlines Group, which is the parent company for accelerators Mofet and Misgav, plans on raising NIS 300 million (approx. $84 million) for the new fund.

Technion And Chinese Education Foundation Set Up $10M Fund For Chinese Researchers
An agreement between the Technion and a Chinese educational foundation was signed at the Technion on June 17th, to establish a fund of about $10 million to have top Chinese students study and do research at the Technion over a period of 20 years.
The agreement between the Technion and the Hanqing International Education Foundation, founded by Chinese businessman Zhao Hanqing, was signed by Mr. Zhao and by Technion President Prof. Peretz Lavie and by Executive VP and Director General Prof. Arnon Bentur, in a festive ceremony in the presence of the Mayor of the Chinese city of Handan, Mr. Hui Jian, and the Mayor of Haifa, Mr. Yona Yahav.

BGU Will Cooperate With Chicago U On Water Innovation Research
The University of Chicago and Ben-Gurion University of the Negev will begin funding a series of ambitious research collaborations that apply the latest discoveries in nano-technology to create new materials and processes for making clean, fresh drinking water more plentiful and less expensive by 2020.
The announcement came following a meeting in Jerusalem among Israeli President Shimon Peres, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, University of Chicago President Robert J. Zimmer, Ben-Gurion University President Rivka Carmi and leading scientists in the field.

110 Megawatt Solar Field To Be Built In The Israeli Desert
Negev Energy, a joint company created by Abengoa and Shikun & Binui will build, own and operate a 110 megawatt (MW) solar trough plant with storage located in the Negev desert. The plant will use the latest technology developed by Abengoa and will be able to store energy in order to produce electricity when required after sunset.
The two companies have been nominated by the State of Israel as successful bidders in the BOT tender of the Ashalim concentrating solar plant.

MediWound Raises $18M
Israeli company MediWound, which develops wound and burn treatment technology, has raised $18 million. The funds were raised from the company’s parent company, Clal Biotechnology Industries and financial institutions.
