Israeli startup Student Hive, which is a niche social network for academic students, has been named “Crowd Favorite” at the Webit Innovation Congress in Turkey. The Israeli startup was selected out of 834 companies from 100 different countries.

Pharmaceutical Company Galmed Planning $100M Nasdaq IPO
Israeli company Galmed Pharmaceuticals Ltd., which is developing proprietary drugs for the treatment of fatty liver disease, is planning a multi-million IPO at a company value of $100 million. “Globes” reports that the decision will be made by October, and if the decision is taken to go ahead, the IPO will be held in December.

Telit Wireless Solutions Acquires ILS Technology For $8.5M
Israeli company Telit Wireless Solutions, a subsidiary of Telit Communications, has acquired American cloud tech provider ILS Technology for $8.5 million. The Israeli company will use the American company’s technology and infrastructure to further advance its M2M technology.

Active Implants Raising $26M
Israeli orthopedic company Active Implants, which has developed cushion bearing orthopedics with its NUsurface Meniscus Implant, has announced that it has raised $8.7 million, en route to a $26 million financing round.
Active Implants has raised $35 million to date.

Check Raises $24M In Series C Financing
Israeli mobile payment company Check (previously Pageonce), has announced that it has raised $24 million in series C financing. The round was led by new investor Menlo Ventures, with participation from existing investors. The company says that it has nearly 10 million customers on its platform and that their app processes over half a billion dollars annually.

Outbrain Planning IPO At A Company Value Of $1B
Israeli smart content recommendation platform Outbrain is planning an IPO at a company value of over $1 billion. “Calcalist” reports that the IPO will probably take place at the first half of 2014 and that the company will try to raise $250-500 million on the IPO.

AMOS 4 Successfully Launched Into Space
Israeli communication satellite, AMOS 4, has been successfully launched into space. The satellite was developed by Israel Aerospace Industries and launched by communications company Spacecom.
Amos 4 was launched last night from the Zenit launching pad in Baikonur, Kazakhstan. The launch ended early this morning, as the satellite disconnected from its launcher-rocket and started advancing towards the location from which it will go into orbit within two weeks.

Technion Listed Among Top 10 Colleges For Tech CEOs
International news agency Bloomberg has listed the top ten colleges in the world you’d like to attend in order to be a successful CEO of a high-tech company. Ranked 7th on the list is Israeli institute Technion, who has such Alumni as Stratasys CEO David Reis.
To compose the list, Bloomberg Rankings analyzed the alma maters of 250 chief executive officers of US tech companies with a market value of more than $1 billion. The Technion is the only non-US-based institute to be listed.

Browser Advertising Startup Revizer Raises $20M
Israeli startup Revizer, which developed tools that enables embedding targeted commercials on browser add-ons, has raised $20 million. “Calcalist” reports that the investment was made by Pitango Venture Capital, at a company value of $100 million.
Revizer reportedly produces $1 million a month in revenue.

Targeted Mobile Advertising Startup Ubimo Raises $2M In Seed Financing
Israeli startup Ubimo, which developed patent-pending targeted mobile advertising technology, has announced that it has raised $2 million in a seed financing round. The round was led by Israeli VC Pitango Venture Capital, alongside serial angel investor Eyal Gura.
Umibo was founded by the same people who founded LabPixies, which was sold to Google for $25 million in 2010.

Israeli Company IDE Wins $75M Asian Desalination Project
IDE Technologies, an Israeli company that specialized in desalination facilities, has won a tender to set-up a desalination facility in Asia for a private, unnamed costumer. The project is valued at $75 million. IDE, a part of Delek Group, has built approx. 400 such facilities in 40 countries worldwide.

Waze Founder’s Startup Feex Raises $3M
Israeli startup Feex, which developed a platform for comparing pension funds and insurance policies, has announced that it has raised $3 million. One of Feex’s founders is Uri Levine, who made a personal investment of $100,000 and is currently serving as the company’s CEO.

Credorax Receives Major $40M Investment
Israeli company Credorax, which develops payment processing solutions, has raised $40 million. The investment was made by FTV Capital, which will now own 20 percent of the company.
Sources inform ”Globes” that that the financing round was held at a company value of almost $200 million.

Israeli startup MySiteApp, which developed Brow.si a mobile layer that brings advanced functionality to any mobile site, without the need for a native app, has announced that it has raised an additional $1 million to further develop its mobile toolkit.

Gauzy Raises $4M To Turn Any Glass Surface Into A Screen
Israeli startup Gauzy, which develops liquid crystals that can double as both glass surfaces and computer screens, has raised $4 million. The company’s patented liquid glass solution can replace glass in appliances, cars, windows and anywhere where glass surfaces are used, and serve as a monitor.
The sum was raised from British investment firm Sollange Investments.
