August 23, 2015 | Israeli company Mobileye is providing the collision prevention technology in Tesla’s Model S vehicle that is set to hit roads this week. The automated driving functions available in the Model S are based on Mobileye’s technology. Drivers will be able to let go of the wheel knowing that their Mobileye system will let them know when they are nearing a potential collision, and the car’s navigation system will direct the car to drive to a specified destination. Mobileye was founded in 1999 by Ziv Aviram and Amnon Shashua.

EIMindA Named ‘Most Innovative Startup’ By WEF
August 23, 2015 | The Israeli biotechnology company EIMindA has been named one of the most innovative startups by the World Economic Forum (WEF). The company, which is the developer of neural assessment tool that provides visuals of brain trauma and illness, recently received FDA approval in the United States for use of their device. The World Economic Forum grants the award to companies “poised to have a significant impact on business and society”. Companies such as Google, Twitter, AirBnB, Dropbox and Kickstarter have all been recipients of the award in the past. EIMindA was founded in 2006 by Amir Geva.

Siklu Raises $18M In Series D Funding
August 20, 2015 | The Israeli company producing millimeter wave technology, Siklu announced that it raised $18 million in Series D funding to accelerate the company’s growth. Sercomm Corporation was a new investor, together with existing investors Argonaut Private Equity, Evergreen Venture Partners, DFJ Tamir Fishman Ventures, Qualcomm Ventures, The Tamares Group and Amiti Ventures. Siklu was founded in 2007 by Yosi Kofman, Elad Dayan, Baruch Schwarz, Yigal Leiba and Izik Kirshenbaum.

StoreDot Raises $18M To Enter EV Market
August 20, 2015 | The Israeli company StoreDot that creates fast charging batteries, announced that it has raised $18 million to help fund the establishment of an electric vehcile (EV) unit. The company, which has raised $66 million to date, saw investments in this round from existing investors Norma Investments Limited, which represents Roman Abramovich, and Samsung Ventures. The company’s goal is to use the funding to build a fast-charging electric vehicle, as well as to hire new employees and establish new labs for the unit. StoreDot was founded by CEO Doron Myersdorf.

Verint Acquires Telligent
August 19, 2015 | Verint Systems announced that it would acquire the Texas-based company Telligent. Telligent, which provides customer support and digital marketing services, was acquired for an undisclosed amount. Verint, a security, surveillance and business intelligence company, was formerly part of Comverse and separated from the company in 2013. Verint is headquartered in Melville, New York with its development center located in Herzliya, Israel.

Eco Wave Power Raises $2M
August 19, 2015 | The Israeli wave energy startup Eco Wave Power raised $2 million led by Pirveli Ventures. As part of the investment, a partner from Pirveli Ventures will join Eco Wave’s board of directors. Eco Wave power recently announced the successful deployment of its “Second Generation” power station in the Jaffa Port. Eco Wave Power was founded by David Leb in 2011.

OCS Announces Four New Incubator Tenders
August 19, 2015 | The Office of the Chief Scientist announced new tenders for the establishment of government-supported technological incubators in Israel. Each of the franchises will be held for eight years and in a different location in Israel: Tel Aviv (which will receive two franchises), Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria. The selection process is a competitive one, with large multinational corporations like Philips, Teva Pharmaceuticals, Nielsen and more holding current tenders. The processes of selecting companies to “sponsor” or franchise a technological incubator in Israel has been a policy of the Israeli government since the early 1990s.

Yozma Establishes Center For Korean Startup
August 19, 2015 | The Yozma Group, the Israeli venture capital firm, announced that it will establish a center to help Korean startups enter global markets. The Yozma Startup Campus will be set up in Pangyo, a southern suburb of Seoul. The center will focus on startups in the biotechnology and healthcare industries. Korea’s Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning will attract investment institutions, as well as incubators and consultant groups to aid the startups at the Yozman Startup Campus. Yozma was founded in 1993 by Yigal Erlich and Boaz Goldschmid.

Integrity Applications Seeks FDA Approval
August 19, 2015 | The Israeli medical device company Integrity Applications has begun processes with the FDA to secure approval for its non-invasive glucose monitoring device. GlucoTrack monitors blood glucose levels with an ear-inserted device that then sends the data to a handheld device. Integrity Applications has already secured a CE Mark, as well as approval for use in other countries. The company will now begin clinical trials on the device for use in the US. Integrity Applications was founded by David Malka in 1999.

August 19, 2015 | The fraud prevention company Forter was named the winner of a Bronze Stevie® Award for the Most Innovative Company in the Asia, Australia and New Zealand category. This award recognizes Forter’s transformative work in the e-commerce and fraud prevention industry on a global scale as the company was selected from nominations around the world. Forter will receive the award on October 23 at a ceremony held in Toronto, Canada. Forter was founded in 2013 by Liron Damri, Alon Shemesh and Michael Reitblat.

August 18, 2015 | Israel has invited two female science students from Ghana to attend the World Science Conference Israel at the Hebrew University. The two students from Ghana will join over 400 other attendees from different countries, presented with the opportunity to meet and learn from 15 Nobel Prize laureates. Israel-US Sign Agreement To Prevent Space Collisions
August 18, 2015 | The Israel Defense Ministry Space Administration and the US Strategic Command signed a cooperation agreement to prevent satellites and other objects from colliding in space. The Space Situational Awareness data-sharing agreement is set to encourage Israel and US to work together in securing methods that will prevent collisions in space. The US has similar agreements with other countries: Germany, the United Kingdom, France, Canada, Italy, Japan and Australia, among others. The agreement is important due to the growing density of traffic, and potential collisions, in space.

Report: Adama Merges With Sanonda
August 18, 2015 | According to a “Globes” report, Adama Agricultural Solutions will merge with the Chinese pesticide company Sanonda, which Adama will take over. The deal stipulates that Adama will take over most of Sanonda’s shares listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange. Adama will maintain its name and management, while Sanonda’s management will be in charge of Adama’s Chinese arm. Adama was founded in 1945 and is headed by CEO Chen Lichtenstein.

Israeli-Indian Precision Agriculture Center Set Up
August 17, 2015 | An Israeli-Indian Center of Excellence in precision farming in the Indian state of Gujarat. The center was inaugurated by Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel together with the Israeli Ambassador to India, Mr. Daniel Cameron. The center, which is funded by Israel, will house 20 nets that will be used by center visitors to learn horticultural practices. There are plans to set up two additional centers in Gujarat, with the hope of improving agricultural practices in India.
