TIGI Solar, an Israeli startup that generates and stores heat from the sun – even in cold weather – has begun a partnership with Eren Groupe, a Luxembourgish international enterprise dedicated to renewable energy.
As part of the agreement, Eren becomes a minority shareholder in TIGI, and the two partners will create platforms to develop, finance and operate renewable heat projects with the aim of making clean energy cheaper and more accessible.
TIGI’s solar thermal collectors use unique transparent insulation on the sun-facing side, allowing them to let in the solar irradiation (the sun’s light energy), while simultaneously minimizing heat energy losses. It therefore generates net energy, reaching temperatures needed by industry, including in the winter months and in colder climates.
“We are pleased to be partnering with TIGI to jointly form a first-of-its-kind renewable heat project platform,” said Eren Groupe Managing Director Yonatan Shek.
“We believe that large-scale renewable thermal energy presents a considerable global opportunity that was previously underserved but has recently gained momentum. I believe that by joining all three companies’ expertise, technology, and know-how, we set the premise for the next important step of our journey to facilitate the energy transition and a route for further decarbonization,” he said.
“This marks the dawn of a pivotal journey for TIGI. We are excited to join forces with Eren to provide a platform for Heat-as-a-Service projects,” said TIGI CEO Zvika Klier.
“With a tightly focused international team and projects spanning multiple continents, TIGI is set to make a significant impact on the global transition to clean energy.”
