Foretellix, an Israeli startup that teaches and evaluates the behavior of driverless cars, has embarked on a strategic partnership with major Chinese automotive manufacturer Geely on the safer, more efficient and less costly development of autonomous vehicles (AVs).
Autonomous vehicles rely on multiple sensors, including video and radar, while driving to accurately identify, track and react to objects on the roads – such as other cars or pedestrians.
Simulating these sensors allows car-makers to ensure that the system is working correctly, a process called verification and validation (V&V).
Geely will integrate Foretellix’s Foretify platform, using it for a range of processes, including AI training, automated scenario-based testing and performance assessment.
Foretify will also be able to automatically analyze the driving logs of Geely test vehicles and create numerous virtual simulations.
Geely is one of the biggest companies in the world. It is the sole owner of Volvo Cars and has a significant stake in both the Mercedes-Benz Group and Aston Martin.
“The Foretellix solution will expedite and enhance Geely’s development and validation process,” said ChuanHai Li, Vice President of Geely Research and Development.
“It will enable us to ensure proper ODD coverage, quickly identify unknown corner cases, and resolve them more efficiently. Our partnership with Forerellix will be crucial in Geely’s quest to overcome safety challenges and commercialize AVs faster,” he said.
“We are excited to partner with Geely,” said Ziv Binyamini, the co-founder and CEO of the Ramat Gan-based Foretellix.
“We look forward to working with Geely and helping them accelerate their strategy for safe, efficient, and cost-effective autonomy.”
