MedTech startup AISAP has raised $13 million in seed funding for its AI-powered solution that provides doctors with real-time results for a point-of-care ultrasound scan (POCUS).
AISAP says its Point Of Care Assisted Diagnosis (POCAD) tool allows doctors to understand the results of a POCUS in as little as five minutes, removing the need to wait for analysis by an ultrasound expert, which can be a lengthy process.
According to the company, POCAD provides physicians with a unique “urgency score,” which helps to understand the severity of any findings, as well as a score for the quality of the scan itself.
It also uses AI deep learning to provide accurate analysis even of low-quality scans.
“Obtaining an accurate ultrasound diagnosis in time can literally be the difference between life and death, so the fact that so many patients are forced to wait up to a month for one is nothing short of a global health crisis,” said AISAP CEO Roni Attali.
“This problem is particularly acute in rural areas or those with fewer resources, and therefore disproportionately impacts disadvantaged populations,” she said.
“It’s hard to overstate the potential impact of AISAP’s solution,” said Tamir Pardo, head of AISAP’s strategic board and former Mossad chief.
“The ability to provide critical diagnoses anywhere, anytime, without the need for a dedicated expert, is a paradigm shift that could save countless lives. That was reason enough for me to make AISAP’s mission my own, and this investment is a crucial milestone in achieving this lofty goal,” he said.
