Israeli company ReWalk Robotics, which makes exoskeletons to help paraplegics walk again, has expanded directly into the Canadian market for the first time.
The move comes in the wake of ReWalk’s August 2023 acquisition of US medical device company AlterG, which makes mobility enhancement products, and the subsequent integration of the two sales teams.
The ReWalk wearable robotic device provides powered hip and knee motion for people with a spinal cord injury (SCI), allowing them to stand upright, walk, turn, and climb up and down stairs.
It recently became eligible for coverage by Medicare, the US federal health insurance program primarily for over-65s.
“With the formation of our larger, newly combined commercial team, we have expanded three sales territories to include the major population centers in Canada,” said ReWalk CEO Larry Jasinski.
“In addition to the restructuring of our commercial teams, each of our functional areas has been realigned into our new operating structure. We believe that this integration will result in faster growth and a leaner cost structure, in line with our objectives to achieve profitability funded solely through our existing cash resources,” he said.
