The partnership will allow accredited individual investors and institutions to invest in companies in any country, using their own local currency. Previously, would-be investors had to convert their local currency into USD and then carry out a wire transfer in order to invest.
OurCrowd investors will now be able to access Airwallex products such as Global Accounts, which allows users to send and receive funds in different currencies, and LockFX, which keeps foreign exchange prices locked in for a certain period of time.
“Our embedded finance partnership is a perfect example of how we support and enable our customers’ end users to grow, while also giving OurCrowd the tools to expand and deepen their services,” said Pranav Sood, EGM, EMEA at Airwallex.
“With the globalization of the startup world, advanced fintech which is multi-currency is a game changer. Now, you can be sitting in Israel and invest in a Silicon Valley startup, pay in shekels with a single click and it is totally transparent,” said OurCrowd CEO Jon Medved.
