US doctors will now be able to diagnose respiratory conditions remotely, without the need for an in-person visit.
Israel’s TytoCare has just received FDA clearance so physicians can use its remote examination kit to accurately diagnose lung conditions in adults and children aged two and above.
TytoCare’s service links patients with healthcare professionals so they can monitor, diagnose, and treat patients virtually. Its service enables people to self-conduct examinations of the heart, lungs, skin, throat, and ears as well as temperature readings from anywhere at any time, supplying healthcare providers with the clinical data they need.
The new algorithm automatically analyzes lung sounds recorded by the handheld device’s stethoscope to determine whether a patient is wheezing.
“Our Tyto Insight capabilities, including our wheeze detection algorithm, furthers our goal of enhancing the virtual care experience for all patients, clinicians, providers, and health plans – not just by increasing the quality of care and expanding our chronic care management capabilities, but also by further assisting clinicians and specialists to make informed and accurate diagnoses remotely,” said Dedi Gilad, CEO and Co-Founder of TytoCare.
“At TytoCare, we have the world’s largest database of lung and heart sounds, as well as related symptoms and vital signs, and we will continue to leverage it to provide superb quality of care for families worldwide.”
TytoCare developed its solution to alleviate the ongoing shortage of healthcare professionals, as well as the challenges of traditional telehealth services, which include technical issues, inaccurate physical examinations, and general patient dissatisfaction.
TytoCare was founded in 2012, and already has FDA and CE (European) clearances and partners with over 220 major health systems, health plans, and partners in the US, Europe, Asia, Latin America, and Israel.
