A new study will assess the effects of an Israeli protein powder on young soccer players.
Up to 50 healthy soccer players, from the ages of eight to 15, will participate in the study to determine the efficacy and safety of the new supplement versus a placebo. Initial results are expected at the end of 2023.
It is the first time Nutritional Growth Solutions (NGS), provider of nutritious formulae designed for children, is stepping into the sports supplement market.
“NGS will invest up to $100k in this clinical study,” said Liron Fendell, CEO and Managing Director of the company. “Moreover, NGS will continue building a strong pipeline of innovative, exciting products to vend through existing and additional distribution channels.”
Michal Yackobovitch-Gavan, Director of Clinical Studies for NGS, said: “In the current study, we will run multiple tests, including 10m and 20m sprints, countermovement jumps, agility tests, endurance tests, and make anthropometric assessments (height, weight and BMI) and body composition.”
The $19.2 billion youth and amateur sports industry has seen steady growth since the early 2000s. Today, 73 per cent of US children aged 13-17 play a team or individual sport regularly.
The new sports supplement is high in protein, contains a variety of vitamins and minerals, and contains no GMOs or added sugars.
NGS is already selling chocolate and vanilla protein powders in hundreds of Walmart stores across the US. Its formula was developed following 20 years of medical research into pediatric nutrition at Schneider Children’s Medical Center, Israel’s largest pediatric hospital.
The nutritional supplements market has experienced tremendous growth in recent years, but most attention has been focused on adult users and children under three years of age. NGS markets its products to consumers between the ages of three and 12.
Nutritional Growth Solutions was founded in 2013, and is based in Petah Tikva, Israel. It has offices abroad in the US and sells its products worldwide.
