Music-tech startups in Israel now have the opportunity to tap into the success of the world-famous Abbey Road studios where The Beatles recorded almost all their tracks.
Universal Music Israel (UMI), based in Ramat Gan, will identify and recommend promising music-focused technology startups for six months of guidance and mentoring at Abbey Road Red, a music tech incubator.
It draws on over 80 years of groundbreaking technological advances that took place at the studios where Pink Floyd, Yehudi Menuhin, Oasis, Amy Winehouse and many more artists recorded.
Successful applicants will benefit from a large mentor network, and enjoy access to other major and independent labels, publishers and music companies, research relationships with academia, and access to finance and investment support.
Abbey Road Red has nurtured over 18 music technology startups, including Israeli AI powered song search startup MyPart. All of the startups it has incubated have raised over $80 million between them.
“The pace of innovation in Israel is incredible and Universal Music is at the forefront of it,” said Yoram Mokady, managing director, Universal Music Israel.
“This exciting and first of its kind partnership with Abbey Road Studios will ensure that we continue to find and adopt the latest in music technology, and allows us to continue providing our artists with the best support in the industry.”
