CES 2022: Israeli Companies Unveil Breakthrough Gadgets, Jaw-Dropping Tech

Dozens of Israeli tech companies are appearing at this year’s CES (Consumer Electronics Show) in Las Vegas, even as Omicron surges in the fifth wave of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The annual trade show, considered the most influential tech event in the world, kicked off its hybrid event (in-person and online) on Wednesday, January 5, even as some participants withdrew due to the health crisis.

This year, CES brings together key industry experts, investors, startups, retailers, and some 2000 exhibitors, to showcase the next wave of breakthrough devices, technologies, and innovation that will shape 2022.

“At CES 2022 this week, we will be immersed in the innovation that will reshape our societies and solve fundamental human challenges in the decades to come,” said Gary Shapiro, president, and CEO, CTA during his morning State of the Industry Address on Wednesday. “With innovations in AI, digital health, transportation, drones, smart cities, digital assets, space tech and more – these technologies are making us better – improving what we as human beings are capable of doing.”

Karen Chupka, EVP, CES, CTA said that “the tech industry has relied on CES to meet new customers, find investors, reach members of the media, connect with industry leaders, and discover new innovations.”

“This year’s event will deliver all of these — offering thousands of people the opportunity to connect with everyone from big brands to new startups,” she added.

Alongside Israeli companies like contact-free continuous monitoring firm EarlySense and e-mobility firm REE Automotive presenting their latest solutions, an additional 18 startups will exhibit their latest technologies in the Israel Export Institute’s Israeli Pavillion at the Venetian Expo in Eureka Park in Las Vegas. Startups include City Transformer, the Israeli company that developed a foldable electric car and Indoor Robotics, an Israeli developer of Tando, the first indoor robot fleet for security, inspections, and operational tasks.

Many companies unveil new products and services and make major announcements at CES, and dozens are given special recognition for their technologies. Companies like autonomous mobility simulation platform Cognata, assistive tech firm OrCam, and fabless semiconductor company TriEye, as well as a number of other Israeli companies, have already won CES innovation awards so far.

Here are some other Israeli companies showcasing their

Aura Air

Founded in 2018, Aura Air has created the world’s smartest data-driven air purification system, one that cleanses indoor air while vigilantly monitoring its quality in real-time. Aura Air’s technology kills 99.9 percent of viruses, bacteria, germs, and allergens. Two recent independent trials, including one by Sheba Medical Center at Tel Hashomer hospital in Israel, confirmed that Aura Air successfully managed to filter and remove airborne SARS-CoV-2.

At CES, the company is showcasing its Aura Web Platform, an enterprise solution for businesses that it launched ahead of CES. The new platform offers an extensive set of tools for businesses to manage and monitor multiple Aura Air purification systems at once by controlling every aspect of indoor air quality The solution helps the company maintain the highest standards of indoor air quality in public spaces.

With the platform, users have access to insights, alerts and recommendations in real-time that enable them to take immediate action and proactively improve and maintain indoor health and safety. Additionally, they have the ability to set rules to automate devices, saving on energy while maintaining a clean work environment.  

The company also offers products like the Aura Air Mini, a travel-friendly air purifier.

Mobileye

Israel’s autonomous driving and ADAS firm Mobileye, a subsidiary of Intel, made three key announcements at CES, including a collaboration with Zeekr, a deal to facilitate the development of a new fully electronic car for Chinese consumers and the general market offering Level 4 autonomous driving.

The company, founded by Amnon Shashua and Ziv Amram, also unveiled its EyeQ Ultra, the company’s most advanced, highest-performing, system-on-chip purpose-built for autonomous driving as well as a number of other chips for advanced driver assistance systems.

Finally, the company announced it was expanding its partnership with Volkswagon and Ford. Mobileye’s Shashua took to the virtual stage with Ford CEO Jim Farley to reveal the two companies would continue to work closely together.

Meanwhile, Intel unveiled two Israeli-developed products at CES this week, including the Core i9 12900HK 12th generation mobile processor for laptops and the installation of Screenovate’s cross-platform communication into its Evo PCs. The US semiconductor giant acquired the Ra’anana-based firm last month. Screenovate develops duplication solutions for screens of mobile devices.

REE

REE Automotive, the Israeli e-mobility unicorn that emerged from stealth in 2019 to introduce its unprecedented approach to vehicles for the electric vehicle (EV) market, held a joint event with American Axle & Manufacturing (AAM) at the REE booth at CES on Wednesday to discuss how AAM’s 3-in-1 electric drive tech is supporting REE’s ultra-modular EV platforms.

REE has developed an entirely flat and modular platform in which the motor, steering, suspension, drivetrain, sensing, brakes, thermal systems, and electronics are all integrated into the vehicle’s wheels. The company announced the start of trials of its all-new EV platform specifically designed for commercial delivery vehicles and walk-in vans called the P7. This new entirely flat platform was designed based on specifications from one of the world’s largest delivery companies, REE said.

Arbe

Earlier this week, a day before the start of CES, Israel’s most active crowdfunding platform OurCrowd hosted a showcase of the mobility startups in its portfolio, in coordination with US investment bank Stifel at the Hard Rock Cafe. Visitors had the chance to meet senior executives an entrepreneurs from companies like Arbe, Brodmann17, C2A Security, Flytrex, Foretellix, Hailo, Innoviz Technologies, LeddarTech, Ravin.ai, RideVision, Corractions and Sfara.

Arbe, first imaging radar company issued on the NASDAQ, introduced the addition of free space mapping to its imaging radar perception stack at CES 2022. Arbe has enhanced its solution with an algorithm that identifies the drivable sections in the environment surrounding the vehicle, while aggregating a map of the environment, and localizing the vehicle within this map. 

This is the first time an automotive radar is able to contribute to free space mapping, a critical function of autonomous driving that requires great accuracy and redundancy, an announcement from the company said. The imaging radar complements camera sensors with its ability to sense Doppler – the direction and velocity of moving objects, at long range and wide field of view, sensing the environment in all weather, lighting, and visibility conditions. 

Cecilia.ai

In one of the coolest innovations featured at CES 2022, Cecilia.ai, the robotic bartender is pouring cocktails for participants. The interactive robot uses AI and voice recognition to make up to 120 cocktails per hour, even offering recommendations to guests who ask. Cecilia.ai “is planning to shake the food and beverages industry in 2022,” GKI Group, the Israeli product development company that created the robot bartender, says.

The robot is 7 feet tall and has an easy plug-and-play installation that makes it suitable for serving thousands of cocktails per day in hotels, cruise ships, VIP lounges, and even large events such as CES. Cecilia.ai is a voice-activated interactive bartender, featuring a 3D animated barmaid that is capable of making conversation while mixing drinks. The script, design, and cocktail menu can be customized for the client’s needs.
