In an Instagram post on Wednesday, Israeli model and businessperson Bar Refaeli announced that US celebrity Kim Kardashian has signed on to her fashion sunglasses label Carolina Lemke Berlin.
“Friends & now partners!” Refaeli wrote in the caption. “[Kim Kardashian] joined my [Carolina Lemke Berlin] family. Welcome my love [heart emoji]”
Earlier this month, Israeli media reported that Carolina Lemke Berlin’s parent company Castro-Hoodies was in talks to nab Kardashian as a spokesmodel ahead of the fashion label’s global launch. The company has been represented by Refaeli for several years since its launch in 2011.
Refaeli became a business partner of Carolina Lemke in 2013 and owns a five percent stake in the company, according to Hebrew-language business daily The Marker.
In May, Refaeli told an audience at the Forbes Under 30 Summit Global in Tel Aviv that she “fell in love” with the brand, and the people behind it.
“I really believe in it,” she said at the time. She had indicated then that the brand would soon partner with Kardashian.
Last year, Kardashian partnered with the Israeli co-founded, New York-based fashion app ScreenShop, as an adviser and investor. The app, produced by startup developer Craze, claims to be the first mobile platform to convert screenshots on your phone into a digital fashion store.
The popular socialite and model told Mashable at the time that she was particularly proud of the partnership and its Israeli team, saying “the fact that we brought on a team from Israel that has some of the best technology to figure out how to come up with something that no one has done before is so groundbreaking to me, and I love to be involved in apps that I truly partnered in, that I’m helping create.”
