August 13, 2015 | The Hebrew University and Hadassah Medical Center announced the establishment of the first interdisciplinary autism center in the Middle East. The center is a collaboration between Hadassah Medical Center and the Medical School at the Hebrew University to educate parents and professionals in how to support those with autism. In addition, the Autism Center will conduct research into autism and society, as well as clinical services for autistic patients. Prof. David Lichtstean of the Hebrew University Faculty of Medicine stated: “Our goal in establishing the Autism Center is to lead Israel and the Middle East in research, training, clinical services and community engagement for the benefit of individuals with autism spectrum disorder and their families.”
