July 30, 2015 | Teva Pharmaceutical Industries has confirmed that it will acquire the generic pharmaceutical company Allergan for $40.5 billion. In what is already being called the largest-ever acquisition by an Israeli company, Allergan will receive $33.75 billion in cash as part of the deal. Following the announcement of the deal, Teva said that it would no longer consider the acquisition of Mylan, which is offered to acquire for more than $40 billion. With news of the acquisition, Teva’s stakes on NASDAQ went up 13 percent. The deal makes Teva the world’s largest producer of generic medications.
