January 18, 2015 | This year’s ‘Genesis Prize,’ bestowed annually by the Genesis Philanthropy Group, chose actor Michael Douglas as this year’s winner. Often dubbed as the ‘Jewish Nobel Prize,’ the ‘Genesis Prize,’ a $1 million prize, is awarded annually by the Israeli Prime Minister in Jerusalem. The prize was inaugurated last year as a partnership between the Israeli prime minister’s office, the Genesis Philanthropy Group and the chairman of the Jewish Agency. Douglas will reportedly use the prize money to promote inclusiveness and diversity in Judaism.
