September 21, 2014 | An Israeli-born woman, Safra Catz was appointed to the position of co-CEO at the international enterprise software company Oracle. Catz, together with co-CEO Mark Hurd, will replace Oracle co-founder, former CEO and billionaire Larry Ellison who stepped down this past Thursday (September 18). Catz and Hurd have experience working together in the past as co-president of Oracle prior to their promotion. According to Oracle, Catz will be responsible for the manufacturing, finance and legal decisions, while Hurd will take charge of sales, service and global business units. Although he has stepped down, Ellison will remain in charge of all software and engineering development. Catz was born in Holon, Israel, but moved to the United States where she was raised and received her education in law and business at the University of Pennsylvania.
