In today’s world of 3D printing and high-tech electronics, it’s nice to see something classic with an innovative twist. That’s the case with this optical illusion lamp by Israeli designer Nir Chehanowski, which has nearly tripled its Kickstarter goal.
Dubbed “Bulbing,” the 5mm thick lamp creates the illusion of being a much larger lamp than it actually is. It is a warm LED light, which comes in eight shapes: A light bulb, a skull, balloons, a mountain, a double-helix, a teddy-bear, a galaxy and a tunnel design.

Chehanowski launched the lamp on Kickstarter and quickly surpassed his £12,000 goal ($20,247), raising almost thrice that amount with just over a month left on the campaign.
This is not Chehanowski’s first Kickstarter campaign. His last product, Flatlight (a candlestick with a similar concept) also reached its funding goal.
The lamps start at £34 for a base and one design and go up to £145 for five designs. The first lamps will ship out in July and the rest – by the end of August.
