Will fish disappear by the year 2050? According to one UN report, the disappearance of fish and the collapse of the marine ecosystem is a very real possibility, but now researchers from Tel Aviv University have discovered what causes mass fish deaths and how they might be prevented.

An Israeli research team, in collaboration with European counterparts, is working to save the bluefin tuna from extinction, most often used in sushi rolls. The researchers have found a way to domesticate breeding of Bluefin tuna in the Mediterranean.

Israeli high-school students were able to generate thousands of Rumex seeds as part of class project, effectively saving it from extinction. They produced over 100,000 seeds of the plant, enabling its re-plantation en masse.
