A recent hackathon at eBay Israel explored what role Israeli tech professionals from the Ethiopian community could play in the industry.

What started as a modest Israeli project intended to bring better treatment to African HIV/Aids orphans, is now a major project in Ethiopia and Uganda, substantially reducing mortality rates and providing hope of a brighter future for these children.

Roughly a quarter of the world's population still suffers from tropical diseases, largely neglected in richer countries. Students from Ben Gurion University traveled to Africa to help battle the deadly diseases.
