We've all heard of electric cars. But how about electric roads? Israel's ElectRoad is creating roads that charge your car while you drive over them.

The dream of the Israeli electric car is not dead yet, despite Better Place's recent demise. Chinese-Israeli automotive company Qoros has recently partnered with American AAM and together, the two will have electric cars ready to ship by 2015.

Two major downsides to electric cars are short travel distances and long charging times. Israeli company Phinergy is trying to solve this problem by using recyclable 1,000-mile batteries.

The first two models of the Renault two-seater Twizy electric car have arrived in Israel. The cars will participate in a trial for environmentally friendly urban transport in cooperation with the Kfar Saba Municipality.

After the success of the city wide bicycle rental program, Tel-O-Fun, the city of Tel Aviv is now considering implementing a similar program using small electric cars intended for short-term rental.
