The administration of PJ34 reduced the number of cancer cells in developed tumors in mice by up to 90 percent in 30 days, Israeli scientists say.

One of the reasons why chemotherapy treatments are difficult is because cancer cells are equipped with sophisticated defense mechanisms on their membranes that resist contact from anticancer drugs. Scientists at the Technion studied the complexities of this mechanism to develop a novel therapy strategy they calls the "Pharmacological Trojan Horse".

“Killing cancer stem cells is the holy grail of cancer treatments and holds promise for complete eradication of cancer,” says Dr. Sarit Larisch. These are not words pronounced lightly; they follow more than a decade of research that could give hope to millions.
