Israel, Jordan And PA To Sign Two Seas Canal Agreement In Washington
December 9, 2013 | Government representatives from Israel, Jordan and the Palestinian Authority are in Washington to sign an agreement to establish the Two Seas Canal. The canal, designed to slow the desiccation of the Dead Sea, will carry 100 million cubic meters of water a year from the Red Sea.

Given Imaging Acquired By Covidien For $860M
Irish global healthcare company Covidien is acquiring Israeli comapany Given Imaging, which developed swallowable camera to diagnose problems in the digestive tract. The acquisition is estimated at about $860 million. Israel’s IDB Group agreed to sell its stakes in Given Imaging.

Takipi Raises $4.5M
December 5, 2013 | Israeli startup Takipi, which develops cloud-based solutions for programmers, has raised $4.5 million in a financing round led by Menlo Ventures. Takipi was founded by Tal Weiss and Iris Shoor, who previously founded VisualTao, a startup that was acquired by Autodesk for $20-$30 million in 2009.

Jajah To Shut Down Next Month
December 4, 2013 | Israeli VoIP service provider Jajah, which was acquired by Spanish telecommunications giant Telefonica in 2009, is shutting down. The company, acquired for $207 million, will continue to offer its services to its existing costumer through January 2014, but will not be accepting any new users.

December 4, 2013 | App search engine developer Quixey, which was founded by Israelis in California, is opening offices in Tel Aviv. Company founder and CEO Tomer Kagan is currently in Israel looking at possible candidates to man the Tel Aviv branch. The company plans to hire up to 20 employees and will open the offices by the end of 2014.

Israel Corporation To Build $1B Power Plant In Peru
