Electric car manufacturer Tesla is set to enter the Israeli market this month, by opening a pop-up shop in Ramat Aviv mall in north Tel Aviv, Globes reported earlier this week.
Tesla registered its fully owned subsidiary company in Israel called Tesla Motors Israel Ltd. in November and advertised that the company was looking for someone to manage the company’s operations in Israel in December, the Israeli daily said.
Tesla, Inc. is an American automotive and energy company based in Palo Alto, California and run by serial entrepreneur Elon Musk. The company specializes in electric car manufacturing and solar panel manufacturing through its SolarCity subsidiary.
The company delivered the first cars from its new Chinese manufacturing facility in Shanghai this week and aims to roll out 3,000 Model 3 vehicles off its manufacturing line every week, according to The Jerusalem Post.
Prices for a Tesla vehicle in Israel have not yet been disclosed. The decision to cut tax benefits for electric cars in Israel as of January 1, 2020 means that Tesla models are expected to be relatively expensive, according to CTech by Calcalist.
