SkyWatch.AI’s On-Demand Drone Insurance App Debuts In The UK

SkyWatch.AI, the on-demand insurance app for commercial drones offered by specialized mobility insurance provider Voom, has launched in the United Kingdom, the Israeli insurance platform announced Tuesday.

Skyline.AI will provide UK drone pilots with access to its platform, enabling data analysis and active risk-reduction capabilities for users.

The app’s UK policies will be underwritten by international specialty insurance and reinsurance group Chaucer.

According to Voom, commercial drone pilots using Skyline.AI can receive “instant, flexible, and affordable insurance, lowering their rates by flying safe.” Drone pilots can also purchase third-party liability insurance through a monthly or per-flight coverage plan, via SkyWatch.AI’s mobile app.

We’re proud to expand SkyWatch.AI to the UK and provide a solution that helps drone pilots fly safer  while saving money on their future insurance policies.“

SkyWatch.AI’s telemetics-based risk analysis platform provides a risk map to help pilots plan flights, get real-time weather updates, and proactively avoid potential hazards. Pilots will also be able to use the in-app DJI compatible flight module during flights and get real-time safety alerts and post-flight analysis.

Skywatch.AI calculates a propriertary “Safety Score” for each flight based on the operator’s behavior. This score differentiates Skywatch.AI from any other drone insurance product, Voom says, and can be used to set an industry benchmark for operators to improve their score and practice safe flights.

Founded in 2016, Voom emerged from stealth in May and closed a $5 million Series funding round led by Arbor Ventures, with participation from F2 Capital, Verizon Ventures, Kaedan Capital, and Plug and Play Ventures. The Tel Aviv-based company has raised a total of $7 million to date.

In addition to Skywatch.AI, Voom will offer insurance for “episodic usage mobility” which includes e-scooters, powersports, motor boats, small planes, and more.
