Two Israeli Startups To Compete At Prestigious 2018 EU Food Venture Summit

Two Israeli startups were selected among 10 finalists to take part in the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) Food Venture Summit in Paris next month, vying for equity-free cash prizes of $68,000.

The finalists were selected from a group of 41 agri-food technology startups involved in the 2018 EIT Food Accelerator Network, which ran four-month program accelerators in Switzerland, Germany and in Israel at the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology. Ten startups participated in the Technion program, including three finalists – the two Israeli startups and a third startup from Estonia.

All participants received mentoring from academics and international industry experts as well as tailored academic programs, weekly sessions with business professionals, co-working spaces and networking opportunities.

The program looks for initiatives that foster “global revolution in food innovation and production, and its value in society.”

The two Israeli startups are Tel Aviv-based Jet-Eat, which develops 3D print technology for vegan meat substitutes, and Haifa-based Kiinns, co-founded by father and son Dr. Ehud Furman and Tzvika Furman, both Technion graduates, which developed patent-pending technology that eliminates the need to clean domestic and industrial food-processing equipment, and which the company says will save time, water and energy, and significantly reduces food safety risks.

The third startup, Natufia, is based in Tallin Estonia, and makes fully automated chef-designed garden systems for indoor uses, in the home or the professional kitchen.

The competition will take place November 28th.
