June 7, 2018 | Israeli medical imaging startup Zebra Medical Vision has announced Thursday it has raised $30 million in a Series C funding round, bring its total funding to date to $50 million. The round is led by aMoon Ventures, with participation from strategic healthcare investors like Aurum, Johnson & Johnson Innovation JJDC Inc. and Intermountain Healthcare as well as global AI experts Fei Fei Lee and Richard Socher.
The company is also unveiling its Textray chest x-ray research, which they claim provides the “most comprehensive AI research conducted on chest x-rays to date” and also provides a glimpse into a future automated chest x-ray analysis product that is currently being developed by the company. The chest x-ray AI analytics product is said to be trained to use nearly 2 million images to identify 40 different common clinical findings. “The results of the study establish a new bar for AI research in medical imaging demonstrating high rates of agreement between the algorithm and human radiologist experts,” a statement said.
The Israeli startup, which was founded in 2014 and uses AI to read medical scans to automatically detect anomalies, has already partnered with multinational tech giant Google to provide its algorithms on Google Cloud, so hospitals and medical professionals can access the service for $1 per scan.
