September 18, 2014 | The visual search platform Slyce announced the acquisition of mobile commerce company BuyCode. Slyce will pay $5 million in shares, cash and earn-out incentives for the Tel Aviv-based company responsible for creating Pounce, an image recognition-based shopping application. The Pounce app is available for private use as well as a commercial solution for retailers. Slyce hopes that adding Pounce as a service to its retail customers the company will be able to fast track their B2C strategy. Pounce was founded in 2012 by CEO Avital Yachin as a mobile commerce app that allows users to hover over product images with their smartphone camera and, using image recognition software, to immediately purchase the item. The application also supports purchases from multiple online retailers as well as Bitcoin payments.
