Check Out This ‘Green’ Passover Exhibit By Israeli Design Students

The Jewish holiday of Passover is also known as the “Festival of Spring”, and a new exhibition in Tel Aviv taking place over the holiday is in the season’s spirit of renewal. The impressive “Green Exhibition,” presented by students at the Shenkar College of Engineering and Design and the Israel Ministry of Environmental Protection, is all about recycling and sustainable thinking.

Each of the exhibits and workshops at the event reflects the heavy cost of using up environmental resources in its own way. A leading concept for the exhibition is that humanity can no longer afford to waste these resources.

The organizers say that “Green Exhibition” underscores a new way of thinking about the environment, a sort-of “green lab,” of experiments which aims to redefine what quality design is. Meaning that in today’s world, sustainability should always be a factor for designers.

Among the designs presented: 70 pieces of jewelry made from recycled materials and 30 eco-friendly urban industrial design pieces, which include housing, toys, furniture, clothing, posters and innovations, such as a self-watering solar plant pot and a self-regulating light switch.

The event is intended for the whole family, and will also offer workshops, such as eco-building, arts and crafts, jewelry design and fashion design.

The event will take place at the Tel Aviv Port over the holidays.
