An Israeli-American organization set up to foster collaboration between companies from the two nations has approved $6.5 million for six new joint projects.
In addition to the funding from the Binational Industrial Research and Development (BIRD) Foundation, the six projects will also receive private sector funding, bringing the total investment available to $16 million.
The projects have been reviewed by BIRD as well as evaluators appointed by the US government’s National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and the Israel Innovation Authority (IIA), the branch of government dedicated to advancing the national high-tech sector.
The six new projects are:
- Amarel Embedded Solutions of Yokneam and Gleason Corporation of New York, to develop a Smart Machine platform to provide real-time feedback on the machining process
- CyberRidge of Tel Aviv and Molex of Lisle, to develop a next-generation optical key technology for post-quantum photonic layer encryption
- Datos Health of Tel Aviv and Permanente Health Care Ventures of Portland, to develop an effective digital-first home-based pulmonary rehabilitation service
- Groundwork BioAg of Mazor and Indigo Agriculture Inc. of Boston, to develop a novel polymicrobial system that combines mycorrhizal inoculants enabling carbon removal and bacterial inoculants enabling efficient nitrogen acquisition for emission reduction in agriculture.
- Quai.MD of Tel Aviv and MUSC Health of Charleston, to develop and implement a Clinical Process Automation Platform to guide providers in the emergency department
- Quantum Art of Ness Ziona and BlueQubit Inc. of Los Angeles, to develop and optimize a quantum machine learning algorithm and a quantum processor configuration and methods
“In these challenging times, both in Israel and globally, the approval of these six innovative projects underscores the resilience and creativity of our collaborative efforts,” said BIRD Foundation Executive Director Jaron Lotan.
“The BIRD Foundation remains committed to fostering groundbreaking US-Israeli partnerships that address critical needs and drive technological advancements. We are proud to support initiatives that enhance our industries and contribute to a brighter, more sustainable future.”
