Raspberry Pi, a leading maker of single-board computers, has selected Israeli chipmaker Hailo to provide AI accelerators for its new AI-enabled add-on.
The British company’s simple computers are designed to help young people gain computational skills, but have also become popular with people, both amateur and professional, who are creating their own systems.
Hailo says its partnership with Raspberry Pi will allow creators of all levels to introduce advanced AI capabilities into their projects in the fields of security, robotics and more.
To help users of its chips, the Tel Aviv-based startup is also introducing an online community for developers, that will include FAQs and tutorials, to help inspire creators and allow them to share experiences and tips with one another.
“We are thrilled to support Raspberry Pi and empower its vibrant community of professional engineers and creative makers with cutting-edge AI capabilities,” said Hailo CEO and co-founder Orr Danon.
“Our partnership with the world’s leading single-board computer provider will inspire a new era of computing, enhanced by our high-performance AI processing capacity,” he said.
“Our collaboration with Hailo enables Raspberry Pi’s industrial customers to integrate AI into high-performance solutions that are extremely cost-effective and power-efficient. For enthusiasts, the AI Kit provides an accessible way to enhance their creative projects with AI,” said Raspberry Pi CEO Eben Upton.
“Hailo’s combination of high compute power and low power consumption make it an incredibly attractive AI solution for professionals and enthusiasts alike.”
