An Israeli venture capital fund dedicated to women’s health says it has successfully completed its first close, which is when a VC fund has raised enough to begin investing in projects.
The women-led Kidron Capital Assets says its primary mission is to turn the wide range of opportunities in the often-overlooked women’s health sector into solid returns for its investors.
The fund invests in early-stage companies that focus on improving the lives of women coping with a range of conditions, both those unique to women and those that manifest differently in the two sexes.
Kidron says its investment portfolio includes fields such as medical devices, diagnostics and therapeutics and includes companies in Europe, Israel and the US.
The fund’s inaugural investments include:
Beyond Medicine, which aims to increase boost health as people age through targeting mitochondria, with a focus on easing symptoms of the menopause;
Portal, which offers scalable solutions for oncology clinics treating women with cancer;
Renal Guard, the creator of the sole clinically validated solution for Acute Kidney Injury (AKI), which poses a heightened risk for women undergoing cardiac surgery.
