A display highlighting the 134 Israelis still being held hostage in Gaza by the Hamas terror group will be placed outside the famed Vanity Fair after-party following the Oscars awards ceremony on March 10.
The project is the initiative of award-winning producers Matti Leshem and Lynn Harris, who have partnered with Israel’s Hostages and Missing Families Forum to stage a light projection display outside the Beverly Hills event – traditionally one of the most important after-parties of the night.
The display will be projected onto a building directly adjacent to the party, which is again being held at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts.
It will feature images and text reminding spectators of the hostages still trapped in Gaza, five months after they were dragged into the coastal enclave on October 7.
More than 150 supporters of the display turned out for a recent meeting by Beverly Hills local council to discuss granting a permit for it, while hundreds more called in their support. The council voted unanimously to grant the permit.
“On the evening of the Academy Awards, as the entire world turns its eyes to Hollywood, the entertainment industry has a responsibility to speak out on behalf of the 134 people – men, women, and children – who are being held captive in horrific conditions by Hamas,” said Leshem.
“This display will remind our colleagues in the entertainment industry about this tragedy, and encourage them to demand that Hamas release the hostages now.”
