US chip giant Nvidia and thousands of its employees have donated $15 million to nonprofit organizations that support civilians on both sides during Israel’s ongoing war with the Hamas terrorist group that ruled Gaza.
Thousands of Nvidia employees from more than 30 countries donated a total of $5 million, multiple reports said. The company added another $10 million through a special program to help those impacted by the war, bringing the total to $15 million.
One of the company’s employees, electrical engineer Avinatan Or, was among the hundreds abducted to Gaza by Hamas terrorists who swept across the border into southern Israel on October 7. More than 1,200 people were killed in the attack, which led to Israel immediately declaring war on Hamas.
Or, 30, was abducted from the Nova music festival near Kibbutz Re’im along with his girlfriend Noa Argamani, whose mother is fatally ill with cancer and has made a desperate appeal to see her daughter again before she dies.
Nvidia said that the funds raised will be donated to nonprofit organizations in the region that were chosen by their employees, including Doctors Without Borders, Zaka rescue and recovery organization, American Friends of Magen David Adom and Friends of United Hatzalah rescue service.
The company said that it also donated hundreds of computers to families evacuated from communities in northern and southern Israel, and provided thousands of hot meals out of its Yokne’am office cafeteria in the country’s north.
“We are proud to see such broad support from Nvidia families in Israel and around the world, and are grateful for their prayers and hope for the return of our colleague Avinatan Or, and the other hostages from Hamas captivity,” said Nvidia’s deputy general counsel Gideon Rosenberg.
“We are truly inspired by the genuine care of our employees around the world.”
The donation is the largest humanitarian fundraiser by Nvidia in its 30-year history.
