Israeli Startup Unveils ‘First Responder’ Drones For Accident Sites

An Israeli startup that manufactures robotics technology has developed a “first responder” drone that can assist members of the emergency services even before they arrive at the scene of an accident. 

The newest drone developed by Robotician – named the Goshawk – can be launched in less than 10 seconds and reach speeds of up to 110 kilometers per hour (approx. 68 mph). 

The Goshawk will be used to assess an emergency situation before first responders arrive. Through its high-quality camera, the ground team controlling the drone can safely evaluate what immediate actions to take and be better prepared for the scene, whether it’s a wildfire or medical crisis. 

The drone can also be deployed at crime scenes to act as a stand-in for police officers until law enforcement arrives. 

Robotician, which is based in Omer in southern Israel, is partnering on the project with High Lander, a Tel Aviv-based company that develops drone software. 

High Lander’s universal Unmanned Traffic Management (UTM) provides an aerial system for drones, which allows the Goshawk to receive flight plans, real-time monitoring, and priority over other drones (as emergency vehicles do on the road). 

“Together, the systems could provide a nationwide network of first response drones that operate as a harmonious part of the civilian airspace,” said Simon Golstein, content manager for High Lander.

“We have now completed the first stage of integration with the conclusion of successful simulated flights.” 

They also make autonomous drones that can operate where conditions are unsafe for humans.
