Israeli Startups To Help Philippine Water Challenges

Israeli startups have been sharing their experience and expertise on water resource management with the Philippines. 

A delegation presented advanced solutions to a recent seminar held there to address its rising water scarcity problems.

More than three million people in the Philippines rely on unsafe and unsustainable water sources, and seven million lack access to improved sanitation.

Among the Israeli companies who presented their water technologies were Arad Group, which develops water measurement solutions, Atlantium, which uses ultraviolet irradiation to disinfect water, Okiana, which develops customized water treatment systems, and Watergen, which creates water from thin air.

Around 50 officials from the Philippine national government agencies, local government units, private sector, and academia attended the seminar.

It was held by the Embassy of Israel in the Philippines through Mashav, Israel’s official international development cooperation program, a division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that provides humanitarian assistance and participates in reconstruction and rehabilitation efforts. 

“Israel invested in technology to support the growing demand and urbanization in the country,” said Ilan Fluss, Israeli ambassador to the Philippines.

“Through this seminar, we hope that the Philippines’ key implementing agencies will gain insights from the Israeli experience and adapt them to local conditions.”
