Tel Aviv-based health tech company Healthy.io, an FDA-approved smartphone app that lets users take urine analysis tests at home, has partnered with Seed Group, a company of the private office of Sheikh Saeed bin Ahmed Al Maktoum to bring its solution to the United Arab Emirates. The two companies announced they had signed a new agreement this week, where Seed Group will aid in expanding Healthy.io’s innovative camera-powered platform throughout the region, reaching target audiences, and increasing accessibility to more convenient healthcare services.
Founded in 2013, Healthy.io’s platform transforms users’ smartphone cameras into medical devices that can be used to take and send progress pictures of wounds or pictures of kidney, UTI, or urine testing results from company-provided health kits to the company’s server. App-associated doctors, clinicians, and pharmacists can then provide accurate diagnoses or medical prescriptions, expediting appropriate paths of treatment and boosting patient satisfaction.
With active offices in Tel Aviv, Boston, and London, and the tech platform’s use in well-known health systems like the UK’s National Health Service (NHS) more than a quarter-million tests have been completed thus far, according to company metrics.
“We are excited to collaborate with the Seed Group on bringing our technology to the nearly one million people in the Emirates at risk of kidney and cardiovascular diseases who are currently untested, and to close healthcare gaps in the Middle East and North Africa Region,” said Yonatan Adiri, founder and CEO of Healthy.io.
“If there is one thing that the COVID-19 pandemic has underscored, it is the fact that healthcare needs to be taken seriously,” said Hisham Al Gurg, CEO of Seed Group and the Private Office of Sheikh Saeed bin Ahmed Al Maktoum. “The sector needs to find the best possible techniques with the help of technology to not only offer timely treatments but also work towards the long-term goal of creating a healthy and happy world.”
