Israel-Premier Tech Enters Women’s Cycling, Sponsors Swiss-registered Team

Israel-Premier Tech, a Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) World Tour team founded in 2014 and based in Israel, was confirmed as a financial partner to the Swiss-registered women’s professional cycling team Roland Cogeas Edelweiss Squad, manager Ruben Contreras confirmed to Cyclingnews.com website last week.

Contreras also told the publication that the addition of Rotem Gafinovitz, a talented cyclist from Israel, as the team’s 12th rider, also played a role in connecting the team with its new sponsored partners. 

“We will have the opportunity to benefit from Israel-Premier Tech’s experience, which is crucial for a team like ours with a strong focus on the development of young riders,” Contreras said.

Israeli-Canadian billionaire Sylvan Adams, Israel-Premier Tech’s longtime partner, told Cyclingnews, “This is an exciting time for Israel – Premier Tech and we are delighted to partner with Roland Cogeas Edelweiss Squad. Like we did three years ago, the team is making a significant step up to the UCI World Tour level, and we are proud to play a role in their development, sharing our expertise and support throughout the season.” 

Israel-Premier Tech, formally known by the names Israel Cycling Academy and Israel Start-Up Nation, launched in 2015 and competed at the lowest professional level. The team then received Pro Continental status in 2017 before securing a competitive position in the Giro d’Italia in 2018, the annual three-week-long international cycling event. The team upgraded to World Tour status in 2019.
