Israel’s SavorEat, the company that has developed a smart robot chef that creates meat alternatives, announced last week that its plant-based meat options will soon be available to employees at some of Israel’s largest tech companies.
The Rehovot-based food tech company has signed a deal with Yarzin-Sella, a corporate dining food services firm, to launch a high-end pilot in a premium catering format that will serve meals to local high-tech offices, including the ones of international companies operating in Israel like Meta (Facebook), Google, Playtika, and others.
The pilot is scheduled to run for several months in Israel.
The two companies plan to engage in long-term cooperation, which means conducting the pilot at a number of locations among Yarzin-Sella’s high-tech customers, and in additional markets, including in the US.
SavorEat CEO Racheli Vizman co-founded the startup with partners Prof. Oded Shoseyov and Prof. Ido Braslevsky in 2018. The professors are researchers at the Yissum, the technology transfer company of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
SavorEat develops plant-based meat alternatives using proprietary ingredients. The products are created and cooked by a robot chef according to the user’s exact preferences. They are created to be as close as possible to meat in texture, flavor, and experience.
This past summer, the company announced it had signed a deal with the US subsidiary of French food services and facilities company Sodexo to launch a pilot program in the US. The program was aimed towards the student segment of the market, while the joint cooperation with Yarzin-Sella targets the premium catering market.
Founded in 1988, Yarzin-Sella is one of Israel’s leading culinary groups. The group owns & manages 15 concept restaurants and a boutique brewery in central Israel, including popular eateries, like Magazzino, Taqueria, Cafe Italia, Zozobra and others. Yarzin-Sella also provides dining services to pop-ups and special events, and operates in the high-tech market, tailoring its services to each environment.
