Israeli automotive solutions company Cipia has been chosen to provide its Driver Sense driver monitoring system (DMS) to a leading European maker of components for commercial vehicles.
DMS uses AI and computer vision to monitor drivers for distraction and drowsiness levels while they are behind the wheel, helping to create a safer driving experience.
The system monitors important factors including gaze vector, blink rate and eye openness to spot potentially dangerous situations. It also includes the ability to accurately monitor the driver when they are wearing a facemask, detect proper seat belt usage as well as whether the driver is smoking a cigarette.
DMS will be placed into five different truck models that are being manufactured in Europe and sold worldwide. Production is set to start next year.
The new contract brings to 10 the number of car manufacturers around the world that are using Cipia technology.
“The regulatory environment in Europe is leading OEMs to build their safest vehicles ever,” Cipia CEO Yehuda Holtzman said.
“More European OEMs [original equipment manufacturers] are choosing Cipia’s in-cabin sensing solutions, recognizing our commitment not only to robust technology but also to the highest level of customer support and swift delivery. Our approach is designed to meet demanding design and production deadlines, ensuring compliance with tight regulatory timelines.”
