BeeHero, the world-leading, data-led Israeli provider of pollination services and beehive monitoring, has established a new regional headquarters in Victoria, Australia as part of its expansion plans in the country.
The company, which has offices in Tel Aviv and California, entered the Australian market last summer, partnering with local beekeeping and pollination company Monson’s Honey and Pollination, to help beekeepers assess the health of their colonies. Around one third of Australian food crops rely on honeybee pollination.
BeeHero’s Precision Pollination as a Service (PPaaS) uses tiny in-hive sensors to act as eyes and ears inside a hive, relaying real-time information on the health of the bees and warning of any issues that need attention, such as extremes of temperature or the demise of the queen bee.
Its Pollination Insight Platform (PIP) monitors bee activity in the fields, offering growers real-time insights into the pollination process, and is currently in use across Australia for a range of crops, including almonds, avocados, cherries and plums.
“We’re excited to be ramping up our operations at such an exciting time for BeeHero and for Australian agriculture,” said BeeHero CEO and co-founder Omer Davidi.
“Relationships are at the heart of our work, powering our ability to support local beekeepers and growers in their efforts to sustainably produce the food that helps nurture the Australian population and economy,” he said.
“We look forward to partnering with the region’s corporate and family farms to improve pollination outcomes and operations for more efficient and profitable farming.”
