Israeli defense tech giant Rafael Advanced Defense Systems has commissioned Epsilor, an internationally respected producer of military-grade batteries and chargers, to develop multi-charger racks (MCRs) for batteries in the launchers of its Spike SR and LR precision missiles.
The MCRs allow the batteries used in the launchers to be continuously charged for ongoing use of the missiles. Each MCR has five drawers that can charge up to eight batteries for a total of 40 batteries simultaneously.
The first delivery of the MCRs is expected by the end of the year.
Created more than 40 years ago, Epsilor manufactures custom-made and standard batteries, chargers and mobile power systems for a range of industries, including defense, aerospace, medical and marine.
The company has production facilities in both Israel (Beit Shemesh and Dimona) and the US, from which it has manufactured millions of batteries and chargers to scores of customers around the world.
“This is yet another innovative milestone in the development of an ultimate multi-charging solution,” said Epsilor’s VP Marketing & Sales Hagai Shmuel.
“Further expanding our customers’ capabilities by simultaneously charging up to 40 batteries, empowering both gear and defense force domination,” he said.
