To mark Israel’s 76th Independence Day, which begins on Monday evening, the largest Israel-focused streaming platform Izzy said it will provide unrestricted viewing of titles about the country’s founding in 1948 for viewers worldwide.
Between May 13 and 19, the platform will offer a selection of Israeli features spotlighting the country’s history, covering key moments such as the War of Independence and examining the lives of prominent leaders.
The line up includes movies such as “Ben Gurion, Epilogue,” on Israel’s founding prime minister; “Live or Die in Entebbe,” on the 1976 rescue of passengers on a flight hijacked by Palestinian terrorists; and “Our Struggle,” highlighting the journey of Ethiopian Jews immigrating to Israel.
Izzy, which was co-founded in 2020 by Israeli broadcasting veteran and CEO Nati Dinnar, offers a range of programming in both English and Hebrew (with English subtitles), and has more than 60,000 subscribers in over 60 countries worldwide.
“This initiative invites viewers to delve into Israel’s rich tapestry of struggles and triumphs, fostering a deeper appreciation for its history,” said Dinnar.
“By offering complimentary access to these films, we aim to promote cross-cultural understanding and global education,” he said.
The Izzy CEO also said the move is designed to spark “meaningful discussions” on themes such as peace, resilience and national identity.
